Rosebel Supports Improvements to National Army Facilities and Working Conditions

PARAMARIBO, Suriname, 13 October — Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. (RGM) donated construction materials to support improvements to Suriname’s National Army facilities, reflecting its commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and the country’s long-term development.

The materials were formally handed over during a ceremony attended by Brigadier General Mitchell J. Labadie, Commander of the National Army, senior officers of the National Army, and representatives of Rosebel. The contribution will support the refurbishment of swimming pool facilities used for personnel training and physical fitness.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rosebel CEO Joe Liu said that peace, safety and stability are essential foundations for a country’s social and economic development, while recognizing the important role of the National Army in serving the people of Suriname.

“At Rosebel, our responsibility goes beyond gold production. We are part of Suriname and committed to its long-term development,” Liu said. “A strong nation needs dedicated people, strong institutions, and responsible partners. Rosebel is proud to do its part.”

Brigadier General Labadie expressed his appreciation for Rosebel’s contributions to Suriname’s economic and social development and welcomed the company’s continued commitment to creating value for the country and contributing to the well-being of its people.

The initiative is part of Rosebel’s broader efforts to support improvements to facilities and working conditions, including ongoing support for other facilities such as the military barracks in Brownsweg.

Beyond its mining operations, Rosebel seeks to contribute, within its role and capabilities, to stronger communities, better public services and sustainable development in Suriname.
