From March 30 to April 1, 2026, the representatives of the Ministry of Labor visited Rosebel Gold Mines for a three-day inspection at the mine site. The visit formed part of the Ministry’s role in reviewing compliance with labor laws and regulations, as well as matters related to health, safety, and employee rights.
A five member delegation from the Ministry of Labor participated in the visit, representing both the safety inspection and social inspection divisions. During their time on site, the team visited a wide range of departments and facilities, including the Fire Department, Medical Department, Mine Maintenance, Infrastructure, SEMC work locations, Haukes Machinery, Mill Operations and Maintenance, the Assay Lab, Mine Operations, Camp Services, and Saramacca pit.
The visit was coordinated on behalf of RGM by several departmental representatives and management personnel, with support from Human Resources, Medical, Fire, Mine Maintenance, Infrastructure, Mill, Mine Operations, Camp Services, and site leadership. This broad participation reflected the company’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and constructive engagement with the relevant authorities.
Throughout the visit, discussions focused on workplace health and safety conditions, compliance with PPE requirements, safe work methods, employee communication, working hours, and other labor related matters. The visit also provided an opportunity for the Ministry to share feedback and recommendations aimed at helping RGM further strengthen its practices where needed. RGM acknowledges the importance of such engagement and will take the necessary measures to address the requests raised and continue improving its operations in line with applicable requirements.
