Brokopondo, Suriname — October 18, 2025. Zijin Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. (RGM), through its Community Relations Department, organized the Brokopondo Health Fair 2025 at the Brownsweg Krutu Oso from 10:00 to 16:00. The event—held under the theme “Yu Gosontu, Yu Frantwortu”—brought health information and services directly to residents, advancing RGM’s Social Performance focus on community well-being and empowerment.
Seven partner organizations provided information and on-site engagement: Medische Zending Primary Health Care in Suriname, Prostaatkanker Stichting Suriname, Dienst Dermatologie, Bureau voor Openbare Gezondheidszorg (BOG)—Family & Community Health and Medisch Opvoedkundig Bureau—Surinaams Rode Kruis, and Psychiatrisch Centrum Suriname. Hundreds of community members attended.
Formal remarks were delivered by representatives of the Traditional Authority of Brownsweg, the Office of the District Commissioner, RGM, and the Minister of Health and Labor, Drs. André Misikaba. The fair was officially opened when the Minister had his blood pressure measured, symbolizing the importance of proactive health checks. RGM also presented a goodie bag to the Minister via Deputy Sustainability Director Josh Chai.
