Closing Ceremony Summer Job Program 2025

Brokopondo – On September 19, 2025 the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Job Program 2025 was held at Zijin Rosebel Gold Mines. The event brought together RGM employees and the management of Rosebel to celebrate the conclusion of another successful edition of this annual initiative.

The Summer Job Program offers young people the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across different areas of the mining industry. This year, participants were placed in departments such as IT, Health & Safety, Mine Operations, and Camp Services. They discoverd firsthand the diverse activities and responsibilities that keep Rosebel running.

During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by the General Manager Qianjie Wang, the Community Relations Manager (Jerry Finisie), and the Sustainability Director (Soetjipto Verkuijl). Their messages emphasized the importance of youth empowerment and the role of the program in preparing young Surinamese talent for the future. Former participants, now employees at Rosebel, also shared inspiring stories about how the program opened doors and helped them build lasting careers within the company.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates. With pride and applause, each student received recognition for their dedication, achievements, and growth throughout the summer. This initiative symbolizes both their potential and the company’s commitment to investing in the next generation.

Throughout the Summer Job Program, Zijin Rosebel Gold Mines once again reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable development, youth empowerment, and strengthening its ties with the communities of Brokopondo and beyond.
