On Saturday 20 December 2025, Zijin Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. hosted its annual Year End Evaluation Dinner Meeting with its Communities of Interest at the Torarica Resort Banquet Hall in Paramaribo. The gathering brought together community representatives and company leadership in a warm and celebratory setting to reflect on the past year, strengthen collaboration, and express appreciation for the dedication of community stakeholders.
RGM maintains a structured relationship with eight Communities of Interest, centered on consistent, transparent, and meaningful engagement. The Year End Evaluation Dinner serves as a key moment to look back on joint efforts throughout the year, recognize voluntary contributions, and reinforce mutual trust. By creating space for reflection and dialogue, the meeting supports RGM’s commitment to responsible operations and sustainable community development in Brokopondo and Pikin Saramacca.
The evening was marked by a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Community members arrived with enthusiasm, proudly dressed in traditional attire that added a rich cultural dimension to the event. Lively conversations, shared laughter, and a strong sense of togetherness underscored the positive relationships that have been built over time.
The Torarica Resort was intentionally selected to provide a relaxed and non work environment where Communication Committee members could connect informally, enjoy the dinner, and participate in interactive moments beyond the usual meeting setting.
All Communication Committees were represented, including Brownsweg, Nieuw Lombe, Klaaskreek, Marshallkreek, Nieuw Koffiekamp, Balingsoela, Kwakoegron, and Pikin Saramacca. From RGM, the General Manager, Sustainability leadership, including the Community Relations and Development Manager, and Community Relationsstaff were present to engage directly with community representatives.
Discussions during the evening focused on recognizing the contributions of the Communication Committees, reflecting on ongoing and completed projects, and addressing challenges experienced in certain communities. Company updates were shared transparently, including explanations regarding postponed initiatives, reinforcing trust and mutual understanding.
A central focus of the evening was appreciation. RGM expressed its gratitude through a celebratory dinner, shopping vouchers, and engaging activities such as the RGM Quiz and a mini talent show, offering participants opportunities to win incentives and celebrate together.
In addition, traditional authority members across all eight Communities of Interest were also recognized with shopping vouchers in appreciation of their voluntary role as key engagement partners. In total, more than 250 community stakeholders were acknowledged for their commitment and contributions throughout 2025.
Reflecting on the collaboration, the Chair of the Multi Communication Committee shared his satisfaction with the partnership and noted ongoing discussions about formally establishing the Multi CC as an organization focused on the development of Brokopondo and Pikin Saramacca.
Looking ahead, RGM emphasized its intention to further strengthen structured engagement, deepen collaboration, and support community driven initiatives that deliver sustainable and tangible benefits. The General Manager shared his hope that, in the coming Year of the Horse, RGM and the communities will continue to work hard together and race forward toward shared goals, reaffirming that RGM’s doors remain open through the CRD for communication, support, and cooperation.
RGM extends its sincere thanks to all members of the Communities of Interest for their dedication, time, and active participation throughout the year. These partnerships remain essential to achieving shared success and creating lasting positive impact for both the communities and the company.
