Paramaribo – On the morning of August 19 (local time in Suriname), the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. was held in the capital city of Paramaribo. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Wang Chun, Vice President of Zijin Mining Group and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Rosebel Gold Mines.
The president of Suriname, Her Excellency Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, accompanied by the Minister of Natural Resources, David Abiamofo, and the Minister of Finance and Planning, Adelien Wijnerman, attended the meeting as shareholder representatives and delivered important remarks. Mr. Wang Qianjie, General Manager of Rosebel Gold Mines, presented a comprehensive report on the company’s 2024 production and operational results, as well as the development plan and progress for 2025.
President Simons highly praised the significant contributions made by Zijin Mining Group and Rosebel Gold Mines to Suriname’s socio-economic development. She emphasized that the new government will continue to support Zijin Mining Group’s operations in Suriname and encouraged Rosebel Gold Mines to further strengthen efforts in environmental protection, community investment, and job creation.
The meeting unanimously approved Rosebel Gold Mines’ 2024 business report, financial report, and dividend plan, and confirmed the audit arrangements for 2025.
Following the meeting, Vice President Wang Chun held a cordial tête-à-tête with President Simons, reaffirming Zijin Mining Group’s commitment to supporting Suriname’s economic and social development. President Simons expressed a strong interest in Zijin Mining Group’s future development in Suriname and the South American region and once again pledged continuous policy support.
In the afternoon, Vice President Wang Chun also paid a visit to the Chinese Ambassador to Suriname Lin Ji. The two sides held in-depth discussions on Suriname’s business environment, Zijin Group’s development strategy, and future cooperation opportunities.
