Handover of Equipment and Administrative Items to the District Commissioner of Upper Saramacca

Paramaribo, March 27, 2026, Zijin Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. handed over a set of operational equipment and administrative items to the District Commissioner’s Office of Upper Saramacca, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening local institutions and supporting effective governance within its Community of Interest.

The support is provided to strengthen the institutional capacity of the District Commissioner’s Office by improving field mobility and district accessibility, enhancing administrative efficiency, and supporting coordinated governance in the region. The initiative is aligned with RGM’s 2026 strategy to further strengthen local institutions and government engagement in communities surrounding its operations.

The items handed over included one 25PK Yamaha outboard motor, four STIHL FS160 brush cutters, two STIHL FS280 brush cutters, one STIHL MS310 chainsaw, two HP all in one printers, and four Dell laptops. These resources are expected to directly support the daily operations of the Commissioner’s Office and enhance service delivery to communities in Upper Saramacca.

Representing the District Commissioner’s Office during the handover were District Commissioner Ruth Beely, District Council representative Lafantie Freddy, District Secretaries Tina Henkie, Kasno Siegfried, and Benny Levant, as well as District Administrator Komse Orpheo. RGM was represented by Soetjipto Verkuijl, Sustainability Director. The handover took place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Rosebel Headquarters in Paramaribo.

The request for support was carefully reviewed in alignment with RGM’s 2026 strategy, managed by the Community Relations Department, ESG governance standards, procurement and compliance procedures, and safeguards related to corruption and reputational risks. Through this structured review process, RGM ensured that the handover was carried out in a responsible and transparent manner, consistent with its governance and ESG standards.

Speaking on behalf of RGM, Soetjipto Verkuijl said the company is pleased to provide support that will help improve service delivery to communities and contribute to regional development. He also expressed hope that this institutional support would further strengthen the relationship between RGM and the district authorities, enabling continued collaboration toward the sustainable development of surrounding communities.

District Commissioner Ruth Beely expressed appreciation for the contribution and stated that the donated resources will be effectively used to strengthen the work of the Commissioner’s Office in Upper Saramacca. She noted that the support will help expand the office’s activities and improve its ability to serve the region, while also reinforcing the partnership between the district and the company.

Words of appreciation were also shared by Acting Captain Orpheo Lafantie and Captain Siegfried Kasno, who both thanked RGM for the support and welcomed the opportunity for continued collaboration.

The handover marked an important step in the continued cooperation between Zijin Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. and the communities within its operational area. It also reflected the company’s broader commitment to institutional strengthening, responsible partnership, and sustainable development under its ESG vision of Mining for Better Society.
